Fulton County Fair August 5-9

 

Where Yesterday Meets Tomorrow is the theme of the 2008 Fulton County Fair. The fair opens August 5 and runs through August 8  and will provide 5 days of family fun and education.

 

Opening night of the fair will feature the Young Miss and Miss Fulton County Beauty Pageants and Talent Show. Team Roping will be held in the arena  and the County Fair Horse Show with halter and show classes for youth and adults will be in the Show Barn.. Wednesday night will be “Youth Night”. All youth age 18 and under will get in for $1.00. Christian Rock Band Churchyard will present a concert in the Show Barn at 7:30 p.m. Goat Roping will be in the arena. Youth are encouraged to take advantage of these events and purchase an armband night and enjoy the carnival.

 

The second night of the beauty revue will start at 7 p.m. Thursday in the theater building with the Baby Boy and Baby Girl and Tiny Tot Boy and Tiny Tot Girl contests for ages 4-24 months.

The final night of Beauty Pageants will be Friday, August 3 with the Little Miss, Little Mister, Petite Miss, and Junior Miss contests.

 

Lawn Mower Racing from the US Lawn Mower Racing Association will return to the Fulton County Fair on Thursday night, August 7 Racing will start at 8:00 p.m. in the arena. Coca-Cola of West Plains will bring the Arkansas chapter of the US Lawn Mower Racing Association out of Jonesboro to Salem for  a “Mow Down.” Local racers are welcome and here’s your chance to get into the racing spotlight. The County Fair Truck and Tractor Pull will be held on Friday night, August 8. This year’s pull will feature antique tractors and mini rods in addition to the regular tractor and truck pullers. A complete set of rules is available at http://jandlsledteam.50megs.com/.  

 

The fair will conclude with the Hill’s Auto Sales and Salem Auto Supply Demolition Derby on Saturday night, August 9. The derby will start at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a No Weld class and a Powder Puff class for the ladies. Rules and regulations for the Demolition Derby are available online at www.fultoncountyfair.org.  Rules may also be requested by calling the Fair Association at 870-895-5565. Drivers will compete for $900 added prize money.

 

Family Living exhibits will check in on Tuesday, August 5 and livestock will check in on Wednesday, August 6 The popular Junior Livestock Auction will be held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Kenny’s Funland will have a wide variety of carnival rides and concessions and will have armbands available each night of the fair. The armbands will be good on any ride until 10:00 p.m.
